So Im being recommended the Drawtite: DT65MR for a 2017 Highlander. I want to fit a full-size spare and this specific hitch is recommended, but have reservations as Ive already tried another hitch that didnt work. I want to verify that a true full-size spare is going to fit. Any video Ive seen is a skinny spare. The spare on this vehicle was same diameter as the other tires, but thinner and worried that is what people are considering a full-sizeinch based on diameter. I bought an OEM steel rim and took one of the old tires from our care when we got new tires for my spare. Will this spare fit with the Drawtite?

Hello David, I'm happy to help.
Unfortunately, the Draw-Tite DT65MR you mentioned is no longer available from the manufacturer. However, I did some digging and found something that will work for you.
The etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Matte Black Finish - Class III - 2" # e98844 will fit a full-size spare on an OEM steel wheel. The only issue with this hitch is that it will not accommodate a full-size spare on an aluminum wheel. This thankfully won't be an issue for you as you already stated you are going with the OEM steel wheel.
Just for clarification, a full-size spare means the tire is the same size as the 4 tires already on the vehicle. You will have no issue with this hitch.
What hitch did you try previously that didn't fit the spare? That info may help someone else avoid the same issue.

I ordered this specific hitch and received it today. It does not fit with the spare tire. I will upload pictures to you email for illustration, but it is impossible to install this hitch with a full size spare tire. Dave
