Using the Gen-Y Glyder in the Rise Position

Question:

I have a Gen Y 7 k glider hitch, my new trailer is 21” bottom of hitch and my truck is 19” top of receiver, is there anyway to raise the Gen Y. Sometimes the trailer sits really low and other times not so much. Is this normal for the hitch to move up and down so much.

Thanks for letting us help Steve. I'm not sure what type of trailer you're towing, but some movement of the coupler is perfectly normal, especially when comparing the trailer loaded versus unloaded. If you can let me know what type of trailer you have and when you're noticing the movement, I'd be happy to help determine whether what you're seeing is expected or if there's something that should be inspected.

As for the Gen-Y Glyder, such as # 325-GH-12005, there isn't a way to configure it for additional rise. At first glance, it may seem like you could simply flip the hitch or the mounting bracket, but we've confirmed with Gen-Y that this is not an approved installation method for the Glyder.

If you need a hitch that can be used in either the drop or rise position, I'd recommend one of Gen-Y's Phantom models, such as # GY52VB. It offers the same smooth ride and shock-absorbing performance Gen-Y is known for, but it can be flipped to provide either rise or drop as your towing setup requires. It also includes both a 2-inch and a 2-5/16-inch hitch ball both rated for 10,000 lbs.

Thanks it’s a small travel trailer 16’ 2680 lbs dry. When I first hook up the trailer on level ground it sits almost level ish, but after driving I pull into a rest stop the nose of the trailers is sitting low. The movement seems to be at the Gen Y. when the Gen Y is unloaded the ball sits high, with the trailer attached the ball sits all most level with the trailer but after driving the ball sometimes sits angled down, so the nose of the trailer sits really low. I hope this makes sense

@SteveM Interesting. The Glyder is going to pivot on the center point of the bracket where the through bolt is. Gen-Y states the Glyder is best used with tongue weights between 400 and 700 pounds so you may not have enough tongue weight bring it back to level.
