Question:
Hi, Whats the impact or difference of tiltng the ball either forward towards the tow vehicle or back towards the trailer? What does it actually do? and is it better one way or the other?

Tilting the ball, or the head, of a weight distribution system that allows it, such as # RP66074, has a couple of uses. It allows you to put the proper tension on the spring bars, crucial for proper system set up, and it can be used to help level everything out.
Systems that do not allow you to adjust the head angle do not have this high degree of adjustability. I have included links to the instructions for this kit for you. Adjusting the head angle is covered.
To choose a weight distribution system you will need to go by the total tongue weight of the set up. This is calculated by taking the tongue weight of the trailer, when loaded and ready to tow, and adding to that the weight of anything loaded behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle.
