Question:

I have a 2021 Minnie Winnie 31H I want to replace the AC unit with a Furrion Chill cube 18,000 BTU unit. ducted. Should I get the unit only or the complete system. And what else will I need to add this to my motorhome. I currently have a GE AC unit.

Hi Edward! Since your 2021 Minnie Winnie 31H has a GE air conditioner now, you'll want the complete Furrion Chill Cube system, Part # FR49TD, instead of just the rooftop unit. The Chill Cube uses the new R32 refrigerant, so your existing GE ceiling assembly, thermostat, and other AC components won't work with it.

I really like the Chill Cube because it's one of the quietest and most efficient RV air conditioners available. The variable speed compressor doesn't keep kicking on and off like a traditional AC, so it stays quieter, uses less power when starting up, and does a great job keeping the coach cool, even on really hot days.

Just out of curiosity, where do you usually camp with your Minnie Winnie? Are you mostly dealing with dry heat or humid summers?

Hey Edward, I recently installed two Furrion 18k ducted AC's in my Heartland Cyclone 4150 and I have to tell you that I have absolutely zero buyers remorse. This unit runs so quiet I wouldn't know they were on except for the awesome job it does keeping our RV cool and comfortable here in Eastern North Carolina. They were pretty simple to install too. I highly recommend it. Great travels! Greg Schoonveld

@GregS Thanks for backing me up on the quiet thing! I have heard so many great things about the variable speed system reducing the noise level.

In the last month I upgraded my main ducted air conditioner with a Cube! It is everything they say it is!! I would purchase complete kit with their thermostat Make sure you label all your existing wiring as you remove it from current unit. Read instructions 3 times and then do it. It is running off my 600 amp hrs of battery and solar

@Gary Thank you for sharing your real world experience with the Chill Cube. Labeling the wiring before removing the old unit is a great tip. People love this thing! What solar panels do you have?

I have 21ft Rockwood mini lite. The previous a/c unit was a Coleman Mach. The Furrion Cube is much quieter although still a bit of vibration when is quiet at night in bed ( does not keep me awake). Was in Texas for all of May. Ran it day and night 72-97 degrees always kept the trailer cool. Makes a huge difference to start cooling well before the inside temp reaches the 80s. “Trailer life”. Marking the wiring when removing the old unit is helpful. Easy install, the torque for the 4 mounting bolts between the upper unit and ceiling mount are critical. Should be highlighted in the instructions. The thermal sensor stays where it is, not mounted like the old one.

@EdwardN I totally get it, we are based in Missouri! The humidity here is awful. The Furrion cube manages RV humidity by removing up to 1.8 pints of moisture per hour so that is pretty cool. No pun intended.
