Question:

Will vortex rubber strips for rhino racks work on their recon line of roof racks? The wind noise is loud and was hoping to reduce by filling/covering the channel. Also, will Thule load stops work in the Rhino rack recon track?

Hi Stephen,

You can use the Rhino Rack Vortex Rubber Strips part # RR34FR44MR to fit into the C-channel of your Rhino Rack Reconn roof platform to help reduce the wind noise. You will need to cut the rubber strips to fit them into the channel to make the fit and fit around any gear you have mounted to the platform as well.

I reached out to Rhino Rack directly and they currently don't have load stops that work with the Reconn platform rack and don't suggest using other brands of load stops. Instead, they said to use the Rhino-Rack Drop-In Eye Bolts part # RR46XP. They're a confirmed fit for your Reconn platform rack and you can use them as tie down points or secure them on the sides of your cargo to keep it from moving side-to-side.
