Recommended Ducted Furrion Chill Cube to Replace a 15k Dometic Fresh Jet AC System

Updated 07/13/2026 | Published 07/05/2026

Question:

Hello I’m needing to replace my domestic fresh jet 15k A/ac on my RV 2016 Grand Design Solitude Fifth Wheel 375RE. I was under the assumption that the new Furrion 18k would work in my RV but when I choose my model RV all it shows is advent ac units.

Hey Brian welcome back! To replace your 15,000 Btu Dometic Fresh Jet with a Furrion Chill Cube, you'll need the Furrion Chill Cube RV AC System w/ Air Distribution Box & Remote item # FR39TD in black or item # FR99TD in white.

These are complete AC systems that include an air distribution box set up for ducted RV's like your Grand Design Solitude 375RE has. So long as your Dometic is on a dedicated 20 amp breaker in your trailer's power center you will not have any compatibility issues upgrading to one of the Furrion Chill Cubes. They fit in the same size cutout and use the existing wiring.

What climates do you typically camp in?

Got the furrion yesterday and works flawless. Now need to replace the other unit. It’s a dometic penguin ll and is also ducted it’s in the bedroom. Which furrion unit will work with it? I was going to replace it with the chill cube also but worried about height of the A/C on the front. The chill cube was installed on the rear of the RV it sits lower there.

@BrianR That is great to hear Brian! I would recommend going with another Furrion Chill Cube item # FR39TD. It's only 3-1/2" taller than our low-profile options like the GE Appliances item # GE26RR. The low profile unit includes a heat pump, which depending on the climates you camp in may or may not be necessary. It does require you to install a thermostat though. The ducted Furrion Chill Cube item # FR39TD has been a great option for bedroom AC's because of the wireless remote. It avoids having to wire a thermostat in and you don't have to get on the bed to adjust the settings if your air distribution box is over it. Since I mentioned the heat pump earlier, we also have the Furrion Variable Speed Chill Cube RV AC w/ Heat Pump & Air Distribution Box item # FR97TQ. Other than the addition of the heat pump it's identical to your item # FR39TD.
