Updated 06/24/2026 | Published 06/19/2026

Question:

Hello I am looking at your convert a ball 5th wheel adapter. Will it work on a 2022 Ram 3500 with factory installed puck system? If i put a ball in the puck hole will that work with your adapter?

Hey Jeffrey! Yes, you can use the Convert-A-Ball Cushioned 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter # CAB-C5G with the factory puck system in your 2022 Ram 3500.

The one thing we don't recommend is using it with a hitch ball that has the integrated lever sitting on top of the ball like the Curt # C60618. That lever can end up damaged with this adapter, so you want to use a ball like the B&W # BWGNXA2062 instead.

What kind of trailer are you towing?

@JeffreyR you're welcome! If you're just looking for a basic gooseneck conversion for your Reflection, another good option is the Gen-Y Nomad. This is a replacement pin box, but without the higher cost from their torsion models. This keeps everything nice and solid as one piece instead of adding the adapter onto your existing pin box king pin. We have the following based on bolt pattern: -Gen-Y Hitch Nomad 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box - 1621,1116, 1716 # GY57ND -Gen-Y Hitch Nomad 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box - Lippert Rhino # GY37ND -Gen-Y Hitch Nomad 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box - Lippert Turning Point # GY96EQ The 1116 and 1716 would also require shims # GY76FR and you would want safety chains # GY49GR to complete the setup.

Yes it willl work. I put it on a 42’ toy hauler pulled with a Chevy 3500. I have a different Toyhauler now with a Gen-Y which is great.
