Does The Curt C46DR For The 2025 Infiniti QX60 Require Any Cutting On The Vehicles Frame?

Updated 06/18/2026 | Published 06/15/2026

Question:

Can you install this hitch without cutting the frame? Mine is a lease and not sure if this will come back as a charge at the end of the lease.

Hey John, thanks for reaching out. The Curt # C46DR hitch for the 2025 Infiniti QX60 does not require any drilling or modification of the vehicles frame. There are already factory weld nuts present on the frame, so it just bolts right on to those.

One thing to keep in mind is this hitch does require some trimming of the bumper fascia. I'm not sure if that would be an extra charge under your lease but you might want to check and see how they feel about you cutting a small section of the bumper. Ive included a snip from the instructions that shows exactly where you need to trim and how much.

What will you be carrying with the hitch?

I installed the Curt C46DR hitch for my Nissan Pathfinder. Only required a small notch on the bumper (soft/flexible portion). The notch is hidden from view unless you crawl underneath the vehicle. I use my hitch for a cargo carrier which is perfect. Plan to get a bike carrier next.

@KennethS Nice! Glad to hear the hitch is working out and that the install went smoothly without too much trimming. Are you in the market for a bike rack? What kind of bikes do you have?

@JesseM I still have to buy the bikes but most likely the bike rack would need to accommodate at least three bikes. 1 adult and 2 children.

@KennethS Ok awesome. I'm actually in the process of looking at racks for 3 bikes too only for me its 2 adult bikes and one kids bike. Mine will be going on a Camry too so it's got a smaller 1-1/4" hitch. You'll have way more options since your Pathfinder has a 2" hitch. What I'm leaning towards is actually a 4-bike rack since there are way more options. Platform racks are great, but they can be pricy. If you end up going with a hanging-style rack like the Thule Camber # TH9056 for example, you'll likely need adapter bars such as part # TH982XT for the kids bikes. Just something to keep in mind. If you end up getting a platform rack, many of those are adjustable and work with kids bikes as long as they aren't too small. Let me know if you have any bike rack questions. I am here for you
