Question:
Does running this generator at different altitudes create a problem
asked by: John K
Expert Reply:
Yes, it will John. Generators like the Onan 4,500-Watt Portable Inverter Generator item # CM76MR start losing 3.5% of their electrical capacity at 2,000'. They'll drop an equivalent amount for every 1,000' of elevation you increase. The standard carburetor setting that works up to 2,000', delivers a fuel air mixture that is too rich.
Cummins does have an High Altitude Carburetor Kit pn A058V024 available on their website. It has different jets that work with altitudes up to 7,000'.
How high of an elevation are you planning on using the Onan item # CM76MR?
