Will the Swagman E-Spec Pro Bike Rack Work with Ride1Up Portola E-Bikes on a Winnebago Minnie Winnie

Updated 06/11/2026 | Published 06/09/2026

Question:

Hello. I am considering buying this hitch for the back of my Winnebago Minnie Winnie 25b, class C RV. I have two Ride1Up Portola Ebikes and I can see that at 59 lbs each they are under the weight limit of this hitch. Do you know if this hitch will work with the Portola ebikes or if there are any issues? Thanks!

Hi Jim, nice bikes!

Yes, the Swagman E-Spec Pro Bike Rack # S45SR should work very well for your two Ride1Up Portola e-bikes on the back of your Winnebago Minnie Winnie. The rack is rated for up to 80 pounds per bike in standard use and up to 70 pounds per bike when used on an RV, so your Portolas at 59 pounds each are comfortably within the rack's RV-rated capacity. The E-Spec Pro is specifically approved for use behind motorhomes and towable RVs, where racks have to withstand much more bouncing and vibration than they would on a passenger vehicle.

The main thing I'd want you to verify is the frame style of your Portolas. The E-Spec Pro secures bikes using frame-mounted ratcheting hooks. If your bikes have a low step-through frame design, you may need a bike frame adapter bar like part # HRBA-PRO to provide a solid attachment point for the hooks. Other than that, the rack accommodates e-bikes with tires up to 5 inches wide and is designed specifically for heavier electric bikes.

One accessory I would strongly consider is the Swagman Ramp for E-Spec and Current Bike Racks # S32YR. With e-bikes weighing nearly 60 pounds each, the ramp lets you roll the bikes onto the trays instead of lifting them every time you load or unload. It's one of those accessories that doesn't seem essential at first, but many e-bike owners end up loving it after using it a few times.

Where do you like to ride the Portolas?

I believe that this will work for you, but to consider..... We have a Grand Design XLS that has/ came with a 2" receiver instead of a bumper, so we DON'T have an adapter clamped on the bumper. I don't know what your trailer has? Our e bikes are slightly less heavy in total. Velotric Discover closest to the trailer (60+ lbs) and lighter Breeze farthest away for less stress. To consider: 1. Try to wait for a sale. This went on sale 1 month after we got one and could have paid $100 less. 2. You'll probably have to unclamp and turn the inside bike's handle bars to clear the back of the trailer. 3. I would not add an receiver extender to avoid #2 due to added torque stress to the original attachment. 4. Swagman also has step through frame adapters - shouldn't matter which brand. 5. You will have to pick up, reach over and put down the inside bike into the wheel cradles, so consider if you need ramp help or a 2nd person's help or not.

Strongly recommend the ramp. Hold off on the bar until u try the fit. The swagman is well made and is a quality product. I have one and works great on my Rockwood mini lite as it extends beyond the spare tire.

@Mike Thanks for sharing your experience, Mike! I appreciate the feedback on both the rack and the ramp. That's a great point about trying the fit before purchasing an adapter bar, since a lot of bikes end up working just fine without one. It's also helpful to hear that the E-Spec Pro has worked well on your Rockwood Mini Lite and provided enough clearance past the spare tire. Real-world feedback like this is incredibly valuable for other RV owners trying to choose the right rack for their setup.
