Hi Michelle! Yes, you can usually make one tow bar work with both vehicles by using the correct adapter on one of the setups. The cleanest starting point is to choose the Ultra-Fab tow bar that directly matches the base plates on the vehicle you tow most often, then use an adapter to bridge over to the other base plate style when needed.

For Roadmaster base plates, that would be # UF35XR for 8,000 lbs or # UF45XR for 12,000 lbs. For Blue Ox base plates, that would be # UF55XR for 8,000 lbs or # UF95XR for 12,000 lbs.

The adapter basically changes the connection point at the tow bar or base plate so the clevis ends match the other brand’s tabs. Once the correct adapter is installed, the hookup is still secure and repeatable - you’re not rigging something together or relying on a temporary workaround.
