Recommended Rear Hitch for a Travel Trailer Pulling a Boat

Updated 06/04/2026 | Published 05/30/2026

Question:

I am looking at buying a jayco 23J Jay Feather Travel Trailer to tandem pull a 2400 pound boat trailer. Can you make a recommendation for the trailer frame hitch that will fit this camper?

Congrats on your potential new travel trailer Mitchell. To add a hitch to your Jayco 23J Jay Feather, I recommend the Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch item # 13703. This 2" hitch has a up to a 3,500 lbs towing capacity and fits frames 22" to 72" wide. This hitch is designed specifically for applications like this where a custom fit hitch isn't available. It can be bolted directly to the frame rails or welded on for a no-drill installation.

You'll also need the Curt 4-Way Flat Trailer Connector item # C58345. This will splice directly into your Jayco's rear tail light wiring and provide the necessary signals to operate your boat trailer's lights.

What kind of boat do you have?
