Troubleshooting MaxxFan RV Roof Vent Cover that Catches on Lid
Updated 05/27/2026 | Published 05/26/2026 >
Question:
Our new MA00-04500K dome hangs on our new MA76JR when the vent is CLOSING - about half way down, specifically on one of the louvers. Once the tension of the self close on the MA00-4500K catches up, the lid finishes closing but its a loud pop. The MA76JR is installed on the factory tabs on the MA00-04500K. Do you have recommendations to fix this? It seems like the MA76JR needs to shift towards the rear just a little bit.

Hey Adam, that is an odd thing to happen with the MaxxAir Vent Cover part # MA76JR. I would open the cover and see if there's anything obvious that's off with the louvers of the cover that might cause the lid to catch. I'd also check the lid to see if there's anything there as well that might be creating problems. There's really only one way to install this so if you don't see anything obvious you might try filing down either the cover or the lid to allow for better clearance.

I had the same thing, although it wasn't too bad. If you can, shim the cover up with some rubber strips.... it doesn't take a lot. Mine was probably a couple of millimeters and it effectively raised the cover and moved the louvers away from the vent.
