Question:

What is the difference between the Maxair standard and Maxair II vent covers? I will be putting it over a fantastic fan on a Casita camper.

I spoke with my contact at MaxxAir regarding the MaxxAir 2 Vent Covers like the Smoke # MA00-933073 that you were looking at and the Standard Covers like # MA00-933067. He said there are two primary differences between the two models.

The first is that the standard unit is a bit smaller at 19 inches long compared to the 22-3/4 inch length on the MaxxAir 2. The other difference is that the MaxxAir 2 cover features hinges at the bottom that allow you to lift the cover up for easy cleaning without actually removing any hardware. The standard model just gets bolted down so to lift it from the roof you would need to actually remove its mounting hardware.

With all of that being said, my contact also stated that if you are looking to put a cover on a Fan-Tastic Vent your best option will be with the MaxxAir FanMate - Smoke # MA00-955003. He said that this will fit over the fan and unlike with the two other models mentioned, the FanMate will allow for unrestricted airflow with when the fan is operating. Both the MaxxAir 2 and Standard covers will restrict airflow by about 20 percent.
