Updated 06/01/2026 | Published 05/24/2026

Question:

I received my elect. jack yesterday item EJ-3520-BBX AND AM NOT SURE IF IT IS THE RIGHT ONE, it only has one red wire to hook up to a full size deep cycle battery, as I have to add a full size battery shouldnt there be a ground wire also ?I have an existing battery in my trailer but it is a verry small one about 4 X 5 thank you

Hey Patrick, it's actually pretty normal for electric jacks to only have one wire ran to them for power. The jack grounds through the mounting hardware so it makes for a simpler install only having to connect the one wire. So what you go with the part # EJ-3520-BBX is correct and will work great. Did you have a manual jack installed prior?

As added security, you can run the power wire to a hidden switch and turn it off. That was I found worked on my wife’s farmers market trailer

@Tim that's actually a pretty genius idea. A hidden kill switch for the jack would definitely confuse a would-be thief!

My husband said the same thing it grounds itself when you bolt it to the frame. He only used the one wire.
