Installing The Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Brake Controller On A 2024 Ford Ranger XLT

Updated 05/27/2026 | Published 05/19/2026

Question:

I have a 2024 Ford Ranger XLT with tow package. What do I need to order for this to be a plug n play install, also I would like the button to be mounted next to the other switches as I do have a blank spot for one. Didn’t know which Custom harness dash knob I would need. Thank you.

Hi Richard!

The Redarc Tow-Pro Elite can definitely be installed on your 2024 Ford Ranger XLT with tow package. One thing to note though, your truck may not have a brake controller port/plug even with it having the factory towing package (Ford does weird stuff sometimes).

There should be four wires coming out of a large wire harness by the driver side firewall, left of the brake pedal. If you have those wires instead of the port, you will want the # RED44FR. This is the exact same controller, just without the pigtail harness that plugs into the port. If you have the port, the # RED55CR is the correct one for you. So definitely check before ordering.

As to mounting the knob, you can either drill a hole into that blank you have, or use the Universal Mounting Panel # 331-TPSI-001 (I included an image with its dimensions). Redarc doesn't currently make a custom fit mounting panel for your truck. If I were doing this, I would honestly just drill out the blank you already have in your truck.

What kind of trailer are you going to be towing?

Hey Richard, I have a 2023 Bronco Wildtrack and installed the RedArc Pro neatly under the dash using the factory harness plug. There was a handy sheet metal brace under the steering wheel where I mounted the control box and drilled out the blank switch next to the headlight controls. It’s a nice and clean install and I’d be happy to share a pic if I had the ability to upload to this post. Overall, straight forward install so long as the factory plug is under the dash. Good luck! -RW
