Hello Tom,
Thanks for writing in.
Your Dometic 651916C751J0 is part of the Dometic Penguin series, and those systems could be installed as either a ducted or ductless setup depending on how the RV was originally built. Because of that, the best replacement really comes down to how the air is distributed inside your camper now.
If your RV has ceiling vents throughout the coach that distribute air through ductwork, then you will want the ducted Furrion Chill Cube system # FR49TD. This version includes the rooftop AC, air distribution box, and wall thermostat designed for a ducted application.
If your current AC blows air directly down from the ceiling assembly without ceiling vents running throughout the RV, then you will want the ductless version # FR27TD instead. That setup is made for non-ducted systems where the air comes straight from the unit into the living area.
Both systems are designed to fit the standard 14" x 14" roof opening used by your current Penguin unit, so the physical installation is usually very straightforward. The Furrion Chill Cube systems also use variable speed compressor technology, which helps them run quieter and more efficiently than many older rooftop AC units.
One important thing to keep in mind is that the Furrion systems use their own controls and thermostat, so you would not reuse the original Dometic thermostat or control box during the installation. The Rv AC's also changed refrigerants from R410A to R32 beginning in 2025, and the older R410A components are not compatible with the newer R32 systems. Because of that change, you do need to replace the complete system rather than mixing old and new components together.
What kind of RV are you working on, and are you getting it ready for some summer camping trips soon?

I have a 2016 Coachmen Leprechaun 319 DS and I wanted to make sure I didn't need any adapters for the wiring if I upgrade to the Furrion Chill Cube FR 49TD from the Dometic 651916C751J0.
