Question:

Hello, I want to install a Thule Revert rack on a vanlife 21inch Promaster Extended. Id like to know if youve sold a rack before and received any feedback. Some racks arent rigid enough, or their design causes the bikes to shake considerably. I have a few questions about the rack: 1. Can the rear doors butterfly style open when the rack is lowered? Im certain they dont open when raised. 2. Can I put gravel bikes on it? 3. If I get the Revert 4, can I put four gravel bikes on it? If I get the 6, can I also put four gravel bikes on it? We do mountain biking and gravel biking. We vary the types of bikes we ride. Thanks,

Hey Steeve, when the Thule Revert bike rack part # TH73VA is folded down you'd have some access to the rear doors being open but would not be able to fully open the doors.

This rack is perfectly compatible with Gravel bikes as well. Same as the 6 bike version # TH83VA.

Thanks, I heard that on the 4 bikes version, I can only put 2 gravel max.

@SteeveA - we have had this rack for 2 years and it’s been great, we easily fit 4 full sus downhill/XC/enduro bikes on it. What dimension are you most worried about with your particular gravel bikes? No gravel bike I’ve ridden has anything weird like extended bars or frame.

@JamesonC I use mine on my jeep cherokee trailhawk and it works great. I put my Specialized LEVO 3 ebike on there with 3 other mountain bikes and it is good. It is rock solid. I can put it on my Dodge grand caravan but even with it folded down I cannot open the rear "trunk" all the way. It runs into the back of the carrier. I like to use it on my van when i can because the hitch height is way lower than on my lifted jeep.
