Can the BlueOXx hitch reducer sleeve be used to tow with a weight distribution hitch?

I am considering purchasing this to be used with a blue ox sway pro weight distribution hitch. I recently bought a new truck that has a 2.5 inch hitch receiver and my weight distribution hitch has a 2inch shank. I am hoping to not spend hundreds on a 2.5 inch shank. Can this reducer sleeve be used to tow a coachmen catalina with the following weight ratings? Trailer dry weight: 7,348 lbs Hitch Weight: 918 lbs I did a google search on the weight ratings for this sleeve and the max towing capacity is 10,000 lbs, but it says the max tongue weight is only 250 lbs?

Jameson this is a fairly common way to complete your setup, I'll explain.
You can use the Blue Ox # BX88187 reducer sleeve with a Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution for 2" hitch # BXW1500 . The 250 lb tongue weight rating is the amount of downward force on the hitch, it won't affect how the sleeve functions in a weight distribution setup.
Your towing capacity is determined by your truck’s hitch and the weight distribution hitch itself, not the sleeve. With your trailer likely loaded in the 8,500–9,000 lb range and around 900–1,000 lbs of tongue weight, this sleeve will work safely. Because it’s just an adapter, it can introduce a bit of extra play in the receiver, which can lead to some movement or noise under heavier loads. It’s perfectly acceptable for use.
For the best performance, especially with a heavier trailer, Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution for 2-1/2" hitch # BXW2000 would be the better option.

I have a Ford F250 with a factory installed receiver. I use this reducer routinely for anything that doesn’t match my trucks receiver. Never had any issues with the reducer. It’s tough, well made. It slides in easily but it’s not sloppy. I guess it could induce some movement but I have never noticed any. I highly recommend it and I would buy it again. It’s beefy for its size and I think you’ll be happy with it. All that said I’m not an expert on trailering but I have never had a problem with it.
