Question:
Are these pretty straightforward to install, or am I getting into a wiring mess? I’m replacing a ducted AC on an older trailer and want to know what I’m in for. thought about just replacing the unit but think a kit is better.

Hey Jared, these are about as straightforward as a full AC replacement gets because they’re complete matched systems. You will however need to hardwire the ac unit into the old wiring, as you would with any ac unit. So whether you go with the Coleman-Mach Signature Mach 3 # CM83RR or Coleman-Mach Roughneck Mach 3 # CM95RR (for more off-road use), you’re getting the rooftop unit, the ducted air distribution box, and the wall thermostat together. You’re not piecing parts together from different setups.
They fit the standard 14-1/4" x 14-1/4" roof opening, and the included instructions are meant for a full-system install instead of trying to adapt to older components. That’s another reason replacing the whole setup is usually the better move on an older trailer, especially now that the newer R32 systems don’t mix with older AC parts.
If you want a little electric heat for cool mornings, you can also add the optional heat strip # CM96RR. Jared, if you want, tell me what trailer you have and whether you’re replacing a 13.5K or 15K unit now, and I can help you pick the better option.
