Hey, Tom. Thanks for your question.

The Replacement Extra Long Trailer Tongue for CE Smith Multi-Sport Trailers # CES45FR can work for your setup, but there are a couple things to keep in mind.

Since it’s longer than your current tongue, 2x3 vs yours being 2x2-3/4, it will stick out a bit once installed. Also, if your trailer isn’t the CE Smith model this is designed for, you may need to drill a few new mounting holes depending on how your current tongue is attached.

So it’s definitely doable, just not always a direct bolt-on. If you’re okay with making a few minor modifications, it should work just fine.

One other thing I’d recommend is picking up some rust prevention spray. The tongue is galvanized, but if you end up drilling new holes, it’s a good idea to coat those areas to prevent rust over time.

What kind of trailer are you wanting to use this on?

@Richard Then you shouldn't have any issues other than the pre-existing holes not lining up with your current ones.

@GwendolynY I think you missed a detail the rectangular tube is 1/4” too tall to fit Tom’s trailer.

@Richard I did mention in my reply that it would be stick out since his was only 2x2-3/4. "Since it’s longer than your current tongue, 2x3 vs yours being 2x2-3/4, it will stick out a bit once installed." It would still fit just not as perfect as his original one.
