Could etrailer Folding RV Cargo Carrier be Used with 5 inch RV Bumper

Updated 04/24/2026 | Published 04/15/2026

Question:

We are wanting to install the 24x60 etrailer cargo carrier onto our 2010 Jayco Jayflight. Our bumper was upgraded to a 5 inch bumper many years ago. Will this work with a 5 inch bumper?

Hey Sara, the widest bumper the etrailer folding cargo carrier part # e99049 can fit is 4-1/2 inches. The only way it could attach to your bumper would be cut off the back of the bracket and then weld the front L of it directly to your bumper.

Hello Sara...I absolutely love our 24x60 cargo carrier. It fits perfectly on the factory 4in bumber leaving room for the spare. The weight capacity and size is exactly what we need...spare generator and fuel. Not sure about the 5in. bumper you have though?? Sincerely DMo in Wyo.

I purchased and installed the 4inch bumper version. I will say that the brackets for the 4inch bumper fit exactly to the 4inch spec. so I do not believe the 4 1/2 inch version would work without significant modifications. Even trying to modify the bumper to fit i.e. drilling, grinding would not work as the trailer bracket is a U bracket that fit's over the bumper. Sorry this is not better news for you,
