Recommended Replacement Plastic Trailer Fender w/a Backing Plate for 12" Tires

Updated 04/20/2026 | Published 04/14/2026

Question:

Hey there, just curious what you would recommend for replacement fenders for a 5x8 trailer with 12 tires onyx trail boss. It looks like the older steel ones have a backing to them and just bolted on through the backing. Are there plastic ones like this and that will last? Thank you

Welcome back Adam! For a plastic fender that fits a 12" tire, I recommend our etrailer Single Axle Trailer Fender with Top Step item # HP53RR. This fender is extremely durable and you don't have to worry about it rusting away or corroding. It measures 6-3/4" wide x 24-3/4" long x 6-1/2" tall and is designed to work with 12" tires.

The Single Axle Trailer Fender item # HP53RR has a backing plate molded into the fender with pre-drilled holes. It'll mount right up where your old steel fender attached. This fender also has a convenient top stop if you're needing some extra height to tie anything tall down.

What do you typically haul with your trailer?
