Hello, I need to replace the wet bolts on my 2023 Grand Design Imagine AIM 15BH. I see a number of kits that have the wet bolts, bushings, etc, and would like to purchase a Morryde kit that contains all these parts however, Im not sure which kits would be compatible with my travel trailer. Its a single axle for reference. Thanks, Chris

Hey Chris, thanks for reaching out. We can definitely provide a wet bolt/HD shackle kit for your 2023 Grand Design Imagine AIM 15BH. For that I recommend the following:

- Dexter Heavy Duty Suspension Upgrade Kit for Single Axle Trailers -3-1/8" Shackle Straps # K71-358-00

This comes with wet bolts, 1/2" thick HD shackles and bronze bushings. Everything you need to replace/upgrade your single axle setup. The HD shackles are great; they can easily last the life of the trailer with proper maintenance. The wet bolts will definitely help smooth out the suspension and quiet things down.

Have you noticed the stock suspension wearing out? Do you usually take your camper on a lot of rough roads? We are here in Missouri and rough roads with tons of potholes are unavoidable lol.

I installed the Dexter kit on my Nitro single axle trailer along with triple leaf springs. The single leaf broke right in the middle… the Dexter kit… it works great no more creaks and squeaks. The leaf springs I got supposedly has some kind of finish that was supposed to help with the rust… that stuff doesn’t work…. So don’t spend the extra money for that…

I have the same setup that Mark outlined above on my Nitro single axle. Everything works great for me too. No more noises and much stronger suspemsion.

Chris,Good afternoon, The kit I bought just worked… After looking at stock shackle bolts showing a lot of wear, and the the elongation on other parts “shackle straps”? it was clear something had to be done.. Camper probably had less than several (5-8) thousand miles. I was not going to tow it any further without a solution.. Buying same stock set up looked like annual replacement of bolts and “shackle straps”. The wet bolt scheme popped up in my search…somehow. Long story short I am quite happy with this choice.. The drawback is that the bolts are only kept from spinning via a knurled spot on bolt, didn’t like that so buddy spot welded the bolts to the ” shackle hangers” to prevent rotation. Towed it about 5k miles last summer and see no wear.., so problem solved. Shoot grease into fitting when greasing hubs.. Hope this helps you, Jeff

@Jeff Hey Jeff, thanks for the feedback. Yes, shackle strap is the correct term to use. It's true that tock suspension is usually very basic and uses thin shackle straps. It's pretty common for those holes to elongate. The HD shackles will absolutely prevent that from happening. I've never seen an HD shackle with an elongated hole. With proper maintenance, those will easily last the life of the trailer. Thanks again for taking the time to share!

I used the Dexter Upgrade Kit on my Chalet XL single leaf springs. Other than some issues with not being able to pump grease in after installation on one bolt, the new shackles and wet bolts solved all the squeaking issues. Nice to see how much beefier the shackles were than the old ones.

@Bruce Hey Bruce, thanks for sharing. I have heard of the wet bolts getting clogged before but its pretty rare. Sometimes heating it up with a heat gun can help things move through or you can try removing it and cleaning it up. If that doesn't work you can get a new bolt with part # LC126197.

Upgraded single axle 10’ trailer with eTrailer 25 1/4” Double-eye 6 Leaf Springs with Heavy-duty Suspension Upgrade Kit (PN: 24010) and Lippert Bolt-on Heavy-duty Gas Shock Kit (PN: LC281255) Mostly use this 10’ trailer to haul thirty bales of hay 50 miles up to my farm via winding country outback mountain roads. Installed the eTrailer suspension upgrade on the trailer 2 years ago and has been able to handle any load I’ve put on it, including my 1946 Willys Overland CJ2A Jeep. Since the suspension upgrade, the trailer handles quite well, is very stable and reliable; I’m confident that the quality suspension parts purchased from eTrailer are durable and will provide years of service.

I used the shackle kit with the wet bolts in conjunction with all new suspension parts to upgrade a 1968 Forester Travel Trailer. It all worked great. The old suspension was worn out and sagging. The wet bolts are easy to care for and I think makes for better handling. I would buy them again.

For a heavy duty shackle kit that would work well on your 4,400 lb axles we have the Dexter HD shackle kit part #K71-358-00. These shackles are really thick at 1/2 inches.

For a Lippert 4,400 lb trailer axle the correct bearing kit is the part #BK2-100 which includes inner bearing #L68149, inner race #L68111, outer bearing #L44649, outer race #L44610, grease seal #58846, a cotter pin and a tang washer.
