Hi Alex, great question and I’m glad you dug into that because the material really does matter for long term durability.

I reached out to DeeMaxx to confirm, and these lug nuts part # DE55KR are made from 304 stainless steel. That’s a very common and reliable grade for this type of application, offering strong corrosion resistance for everyday use, including rain, road spray, and typical towing conditions. It’s a solid step up from standard steel and avoids the issues you see with capped lug nuts, while still holding torque well when installed properly. They are designed to resist rust, but like any stainless hardware, especially in harsher environments, it’s still a good idea to keep threads clean.

Where are you towing next, any beach launches or salty winter roads?

Thanks for the responce Heather. I have new aluminum wheels for a boat trailer that I launch in saltwater. Was hoping that for the price of the DE55KR they would be 316 grade stainless. With that being said i honestly cannot find 316 stainless steel grade lug nuts anywhere. So for that DE55KR etrailer has to offer. I found several reputable companies that sell 304 stainless lug nuts that are priced at appropriately $30 cheaper. Nothing against etrailer since i purchase a road active suspension for my truck with etrailer which i am very pleased with. I will still continue shopping with etrailer in the future and am pleased for your effort on getting me that info. Thank you! I appreciate you and have great day.

@Alex I really appreciate you saying all that, and I completely understand where you’re coming from, especially when you’re comparing prices on something like this. You’re also right that 316 stainless lug nuts are extremely hard to find, and it’s not just you. Most manufacturers stick with 304 because it offers the strength needed for proper torque and load handling, while still giving solid corrosion resistance. 316 has better corrosion resistance in saltwater, but it’s not commonly used for lug nuts due to cost and material properties in this kind of application. Our pricing can sometimes be a bit higher because we focus on trusted brands, keeping parts in stock, and being here to help if anything doesn’t line up or work the way it should. That said, I completely understand going with what fits your budget. I’m glad we could at least confirm the material so you can make the right call, and if you need help with anything down the road, I’ve got you!
