Question:

Is there any way to put “wing” on it for a sway control?

Hi David, I completely understand why you’re asking. Those white knuckle moments are not fun.

With the Weigh Safe hitch part # WS29ZR, there unfortunately isn’t a safe way to add a friction sway control “wing” bracket. That adjustable ball mount was not designed with a sway control tab, and because of how the aluminum ball platform is built there is not a safe place to add one.

I think you would be much happier with a full weight distribution system like the Weigh Safe True Tow weight distribution hitch part # WS94RR. That setup includes built in sway control and an adjustable ball mount, so you still keep the adjustability while gaining the stability that you need. This system provides significantly stronger sway control than a single friction bar and also helps distribute the trailer’s weight more evenly across the truck and trailer. The result is a much calmer and more stable towing experience, especially when wind picks up or trucks pass you on the highway.

If you really wanted to go the traditional friction sway control route instead, you would need to switch to a ball mount that already has a sway control tab, like part # D320, and pair it with a friction sway control bar like part # 17200. The tradeoff there is that we do not currently have an adjustable ball mount with a sway control tab, so that style setup would only give you about a 2 inch drop.

What is the loaded tongue weight of your trailer? I would like to recommend the best weight distribution system for your setup.
