Question:
Hello, I am looking to purchase a replacement scissor type stabilizer jack for my travel trailer. My existing one measures 24” when fully open and 24” when closed, not counting the head for the threaded rod. I am unsure what weight capacity to purchase. My old one has no markings on it. I also need to purchase a pair of gas struts for an outside kitchen door for my rv. The door is large, approximately 4’ by 6’. The existing strut measures 19 3/4 inches from center of mounting bracket to the opposite center. The non piston section of the strut measures 11 1/2 inches. There is no pressure rating on the strut body. Thank you.

Hello Joseph,
Thanks so much for being a loyal neighbor since 2015. We truly appreciate you! I’m glad you finally had a chance to write in to us.
I think there may have been a small typo. You listed 24" for both the open and closed measurements. Now, my mother always told me to never assume, but she isn’t here right now, so I’m going to guess that 24" is the open measurement.
I’m not sure what your travel trailer weighs, but here are the two options we carry in a 24" lift:
- etrailer Scissor Stabilizer Jack 24" Lift Qty 1 # e36VV with a 7,500 pound weight capacity
- etrailer Scissor Stabilizer Jack 24" Lift Qty 1 # e29VV with a 2,500 pound weight capacity
As for the gas strut, I’m not seeing anything that matches the specifications you mentioned. We do have options with a 19 3/4" extended length, but nothing with an 11 1/2" stroke. For example, # ATL23BR has the 19 3/4" extended length, but the stroke is 8 1/4". It’s also rated for 125 to 135 pounds.
Are there any numbers printed on your current gas strut? I’d especially like to confirm the weight rating. I would hate for you to end up with one that isn’t strong enough, or one that’s too strong and keeps your door from closing properly.
I look forward to hearing back from you so we can make sure you get exactly what you need!
