Looking For Camera System For 2025 Ford F-150 To Help Hitching 5th Wheel And Monitor Cargo
Updated 03/13/2026 | Published 03/05/2026 >
Question:
2025 F150 Lariat w/502A package + new Escape 5.0 TA 5th wheel travel trailer prewired for a back-up camera Since the F150 does not come with a camera on the third brake light and Im not terribly impressed with their inside-mounted security bed camera based on looking at it online, Im looking for a camera systems that will allow me to see the bed of the truck to assist with hitching the 5th wheel and to keep an eye on cargo and for a wireless rear-view RV camera. It looks like this could do both functions but would like to confirm its compatible with my F150. The BM38YR looks similar, but trades the RV cam for a front dash cam and adds recording. My ideal solution would combine all of these dash cam, bed cam, and RV cam with recording. If this needs to be two systems, that may be ok. I do like that the BM38YR switches from a regular mirror to the video display with a touch. Looks like BM59SR only switches between bed and rv cameras. Would like etrailers expert opinion on options. I have a lot of gear to get for our new trailer and you guys have a great rep. Thanks!

Hey Kevin, thanks for reaching out. Congrats on the new F150 and the Escape 5th wheel! I love that camper too its just the right size.
You’re on the right track. Since the F150 doesn’t offer the third brake light camera like the Super Duty trucks, going with a mirror-style system is a really good way to get bed visibility for hitching and still keep an eye on the trailer. The # BM59SR will let you run a bed camera and a wireless RV camera together, which covers the two main things you’re after. The # BM83YR adds the front dash cam with recording, but you lose the RV camera in that package. Unfortunately, there isn’t one single system right now that combines dash cam recording, bed cam, and wireless RV cam all into one unit.
If it were my truck, I’d run the # BM59SR for the bed and trailer/bed visibility and to help with hitching up. Then you could add a separate dedicated dash cam for recording. That way you don’t give anything up and you still get everything you want. Since your Escape is prewired, we’d just want to confirm what brand it’s wired for so you’re not fighting compatibility.
Any cool trips planned with your Escape once you get the camera wired up? Any other upgrades I can help with? Spring is right around the corner!

The camper is ordered with just a 12V camera pre-wire in the top rear overhead cabinet. I assume this means I'll need to drill a hole in the fiberglass to pull the power wire through as well as holes for the universal mount included w/this camera. Installation of this looks doable though I don't want to affect the existing camera on the mirror housing. I looked through the instructions and it's not clear how the existing camera is reattached (talks about the stem, but pictures are not clear). I found a video, but it was of an older truck so wasn't as helpful. I also see the WOLFBOX G900 which looks like it could do everything, but has the drawback that the trailer camera has to be wired (featured by Jared on AllAboutRVs.com (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o6n1pkO_CFU). Thinking I could use the cabin camera by mounting it in the back looking out the rear window as the rear view camera. Our first trip is to Chilliwack BC in April to pick up the new trailer and drive it home. So, I'd like to have the truck camera system ready to go so only need to install the camera on the back of the trailer - ideally before heading back. Appreciate your insights!
