I am considering the SmartPlug for our campervan. My question: is there a 90° connector available without having to purchase the whole power cord?

Hi George,

That’s a great question. The SmartPlug RV power inlet kits only come with straight connectors there isn’t a 90 degree connector sold separately by itself.

The only 50 amp 90 degree angled cord SmartPlug currently offers is part # SM54SB. If you wanted to go that route, you could pair it with the SmartPlug 50 Amp Power Inlet in black, part # SM56FR.

If your main concern is stress on the inlet, SmartPlug systems are actually designed to reduce that. Unlike traditional twist-lock connectors, SmartPlug uses a sleeve design that locks the body of the plug to the inlet. That way, any tension from the cord is absorbed by the plug housing instead of being transferred to the electrical pins. This helps minimize overheating risks and reduces wear over time.
