Hey Melissa - great question.

The WFCO # WF56FR (WF-68100-AD) is rated at 100 amps on the 12V DC output side, not on the 120V AC shore power side. So it won’t “turn your RV into 100 amps.”

On the AC side, this model uses a 20-amp plug and should be on a properly protected 20-amp branch circuit. Many 30-amp RVs have a 15-amp circuit feeding the electrical outlets, so the important thing is to check the breaker that currently powers your converter - not the main 30-amp shore cord.

If your converter is already on a 20-amp breaker, you’re fine. If it’s on a 15-amp breaker, then the 100A unit may not be a plug-and-play swap without electrical changes such as upgrading the wires and the breaker to that electrical outlet.

In a typical 30-amp travel trailer with one or two batteries, the # WF38FR (55A) is often the more practical choice and avoids any AC-side concerns, so you could just go this route to be on the safe side and not worry about anything.

Are you running a larger lithium bank or mainly trying to shorten generator run time?
