Best Suspension Enhancement & Steering Stabilizer For 2023 Jayco Greyhawk 27U

Updated 12/05/2024 | Published 11/05/2024

Question:

I have a 2023 Jayco Greyhawk 27U. Thinking of upgrading the rear suspension to the Timbren TFERSD and putting the Timbren TFEF350 on the front to replace the bump stops. I tow a 4 door Jeep Wrangler. Also mulling installing a Safe T Plus to reduce the steering wobble. My background is electrical so suspension is not my strong suit. Any help/suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi Jeff,

I can give you a hand here with suspension upgrades for your 2023 Jayco Greyhawk 27U, though honestly I'd go a different route than the Timbrens # TFEF350 and # TFERSD you mentioned. They'll do their job, but my goodness they can be quite rough on the ride. They are made from a very dense hollow rubber so there just isn't much "give" there and you'll feel it.

The better option is definitely SumoSprings because they'll compress based on the weight being transferred so it isn't as rough. The correct SumoSprings for your 2023 Greyhawk 27U are the following:

- SumoSprings Maxim Custom Helper Springs - Rear Axle # SSR-106-47-1

- SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs - Front Axle # SSF-106-40

So that's the route I recommend going as it's going to be better for your ride, but keep in mind these will NOT fit if your Jayco has the J-Ride suspension. I looked and don't think J-Ride is on your rig, but I wanted to mention it anyway.

Then for the steering stabilizer, we don't offer the Safe T Plus so I'm not familiar with it, but we do have the Roadmaster and it is will definitely help keep steering in check so you don't have to work as hard. You'll definitely see a benefit with the combo of the SumoSprings and stabilizer, and I verified with Roadmaster the correct part for your motorhome is the Roadmaster Reflex RV Steering Stabilizer # RM-RBK24-RSSC.

Kyle Thanks for the quick reply. I went out and took a pic of the sticker on the side, but my cheap email won’t let me attach it. Anyway it says: JRide Plus With Exclusive FSD Shock Technology/Koni I think that is Jayco verbiage for a bumpy ride. It seems I do have JRide. So any suggestions? Believe you helped me with my electrical up grade last week. All went smooth with no issues. Thanks

@JeffN Yep, that's the J-Ride. So you can still use the Timbrens if you like, though another route I would consider - and would also go with over the Timbrens - is an anti-sway bar, the Roadmaster Rear Anti-Sway Bar # RM-1139-147. It acts as a brace between the frame of your motorhome, so it balances the weight transferred, helping stop movement and body roll to improve handling. These are actually our most popular upgrades for motorhomes due to how effective they are.

@KyleS Kyle Crawled up under the rig and looked at the installed swaybar. It looks to be pretty stout. 1 1/4 inches in diameter I’d guess. Noticed that there was room where the axle bump stops are. Do you think some SumoSprings SSR-130-54 would help? Especially since I tow. The steering stabilizer is a go. Thanks

@JeffN Appreciate that info, and for sure, you can use the # SSR-130-54. Those don't have the same brackets like the other option I mentioned, so there won't be interference, they'll just replace the bump stops.
