How Can I Increase Bed Rail Clearance When Towing With Lifted 2017 Ford F350?

Question:

I have a already lifted 2017 f350 Needing something that will allow me to pull a gooseneck trailer as my truck is a bit too lifted to hook up and pull comfortably. The clearance over bed isn’t enough and the trailer isn’t level. So what product will help me with this?

Hey Sam, thanks for reaching out. Towing with a lifted truck can definitely create the exact issues you are describing, especially with bed rail clearance and the trailer not sitting level.

Since the height issue is coming from the truck, the easiest fix is usually to raise the trailer rather than modify the truck. The most common solution is a trailer lift kit.

For example, the Correct Track Trailer Alignment and Lift Kit # RR55QX works with trailers that have double eye leaf spring suspension and provides up to 2-1/4 inches of lift on a tandem axle setup. That added height helps with bed rail clearance issues and helps get the trailer sitting level behind lifted trucks.

If your trailer has torsion axles instead of leaf springs, the solution would be different, typically involving torsion axle lift spacers.

Aside from a lift kit, the only way to make your setup tow-worthy would be to remove the lift kit from the truck.
