Question:
I am interested in adding a weight distribution hitch to my truck/trailer. My truck is a 2019 Toyota Tacoma TRD 4x4. My trailer is a 2016 Pacific Coach Works 16rb. The trailer GVWR is 3850 lbs. The hitch weight is 340 lbs. What do you recommend? Thank you.

Hey Cory, thanks for reaching out. The correct weight distribution (WD) hitch depends on your loaded tongue weight. The 340 lb hitch weight is the dry hitch weight which does not include batteries or fuel. So your actual loaded hitch weight will probably be closer to 500 ish lbs. For that, I recommend the following:
- Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control - 6,000 lbs GTW, 600 lbs TW # EQ90-00-0600
This is made for trailers with tongue weight between 200 and 600 lbs, and you will be right within that range. The Equalizer systems are widely regarded as being one of the best available. They are great for weight distribution, sway control and ride leveling.
Keep in mind the frame brackets must be placed on the tongue between 27" and 32" back from the hitch ball. Please measure the trailer tongue and make sure there is room for the brackets in this location.
As long as you have room, the WD hitch will fit and work great. Will definitely make those long trips a bit less stressful.

Hi Jesse, Thank you for your response and recommendation. I have taken some pictures of the tongue of my trailer with a tape measure. Is there a way I can send you the pictures to be sure the system will fit. My biggest concern is the width of the brackets that bolt to the frame. I only have about 2" to 2 1/2" between the batteries and the propane tanks. Will they fit in that space? Sincerely, Cory
