Question:
What is involved upgrading MaxAir Plus to a MaxAir deluxe 07500K? Do you need to remove entire unit and reseal roof OR can you just remove the fan and install the deluxe?

Hi Stephen; to install the MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan, Thermostat, and Remote # MA00-07500K you will need to completely remove your old MaxxFan Plus. Even if the parts carried over, I would recommend complete replacement since that plastic tends to wear out over time and it is better to start fresh. If you need sealant and butyl tape you can use the Roof Vent Installation Kit # 344270KITW.
Is your old fan having problems or are you just looking to upgrade?

I just looked at the MaxxAir Plus install video. You will need to remove the old fan entirely, down to the roofing material. I would recommend using a drill/driver to remove the screws from the roof. You will need to either remove all the old lap sealant from the screw heads (very fpdifficult and there are LOTS of screws!) or push the screwdriver npbit firmly into the hapead and let the drill do the work. The worst of it is getting the old lap sealant and butyl tape/caulk residue off of the roof. If one of your fellow campers is "Verically challenged" I highly recommend getting the remote keypad. It is an additional $25, and needs a standard CAT 6 network patch cable to connect it to the fan. I fished the cable through the wall to be next to the light switch. The remote works, but mine kept getting "lost". Another reminder: if you wire it through the existing fan switch, it will always return to its last setting. I wired mine directly and removed the old fan switch completely.

I have two of these on my motorhome. I need to replace the third and will be buying another of the same fan. If that tells you anything. They work great and fold down nicely. Never had a problem with any of them. My only knock on them would be the remote. My wife is short, cannot reach the fan itself so we use the remotes and they eat batteries faster than I would say is normal. Hope that helps.

Hi Stephen, Yes the existing unit must be removed and the MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan installed and sealed. While it is time consuming to clean up the caulk and set the new unit it is worth the effort and functionality you gain. Keep the box and sell the used unit.
