Question:
I have a 2025 Jayco Pinnacle 36’ 5th wheel I am taking to Alaska this summer and need a recommendation on options for suspension enhancements. I would prefer something I can do myself like bolt on, but welding is fine if that is best. Thank you.

Hello Mark, thanks for reaching out. As far as suspension enhancements for your 2025 Jayco 5th wheel, what I recommend is a cushioned equalizer and wet bolt upgrade kit. That will add shock absorption to the suspension, and the HD shackles and wet bolts are extremely durable. I also recommend adding a shock kit like the Lippert Bolt-On Shock Kit w/ Heavy Duty Gas Shocks # LC281281. Those will go a long way to really smooth things out and help the camper handle bumps in the road without as much chucking and jarring.
That said, there isn't a good way to look up your camper online to determine exactly what parts you need, so I will need you to measure/confirm a few things.
For the equalizer and wet bolt kit, I will need to confirm the dimensions of the current equalizer, as well as the length of the shackle links. For example, the Dexter E-Z Flex Suspension Kit # K71-653-00 comes with a cushioned equalizer that is 7-3/4" long and 3" tall. It also comes with shackles that are 2-1/4" long hole to hole. We will want to be sure these dimensions match what is currently on the trailer. The suspension is built around a certain equalizer and shackle size, so its critical to match those up.
For the # LC281281 shock kit, this will work with any overslung axle (leaf spring pack on top of axle) rated between 5,200 and 7,000 lbs. There will be a sticker on your axle that shows the capacity, but I imagine your axles will meet these criteria. Still good to confirm if you can though.
I have included a picture that shows how to measure the equalizer. Please check yours and let me know if it matches. If you come up with something different feel free to shoot me those measurements and I am happy to look into it.

Hey Mark, were you able to get the measurements for your Jayco’s equalizer and shackles? Once you have those details, I can help confirm the best fit for the cushioned equalizer and wet bolt kit. Let me know what you find—I’m happy to help narrow it down.
