Replacement Ducted 18k Btu AC System for a Keystone Travel Trailer

Updated 01/27/2026 | Published 01/05/2026

Question:

I have a 2018 keystone hideout travel trailer. It’s 32’ with a ducted AC system. I believe the current AC is a 13,500 btu unit. It just doesn’t keep up with the Kansas heat and it’s VERY loud. Is there a good option that’s quieter and will keep my RV cool? I’m looking at the 18k inverter units but I’m not sure which one to go with or if it’s even compatible with my system Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for the information! 13,500 Btu is definitely not a big enough system to cool a trailer that big in the Midwest humidity. The new Furrion Chill Cubes are going to address both of those issues. They're extremely quiet, efficient, and will keep you cool.

There's a couple of options to add the new 18,000 Btu Chill Cubes to your Keystone travel trailer but you'll need to replace your entire system not just the roof top AC unit like the item # LC34DX you were looking at. The EPA changed the refrigerant regulations at the beginning of last year so nothing made after 2025 is going to be compatible with older systems.

Which ducted system you need is going to depend on whether or not you want a thermostat. I have listed the options below:

With a Thermostat - Furrion Chill Cube RV AC w Air Distribution Box, Thermostat - Black item # FR49TD in black or item # FR69TD in white.

Without a Thermostat - Furrion Chill Cube RV Air Conditioner w Air Distribution Box item # FR39TD in black or item # FR99TD in white.

What brand and model of AC do you currently have?

Hey, how did things go with the Furrion Chill Cube options for your Keystone Hideout? Did the quieter 18,000 Btu system make a noticeable difference in cooling and noise? Your update could make it easier for others with similar trailers to choose the right setup.
