buy a racking system for my sons 2021 VW Tiguan. he primarly needs it for transporting his paddle board but may add something for sking as well. what represents the best value ?

Hey John, for the raised rails of your son's 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan the best value roof rack would by far be the Malone AirFlow2 part # MAL84AR that you referenced. These are about half the price compared to the similar roof racks that fit your vehicle but are still a great quality plus they come with locks as well.

Does he need a paddleboard or ski carrier too?

Yes, he does need a paddleboard carrier. Is the Thule TH52za rack any better than the Malone or just a lot more expensive? Thanks!

@JohnA The Thule roof rack part # TH52ZA is a super nice roof rack. It is the highest quality overall with just like better fit and finish aspects that make it have the higher price tag. There is a bit of the name that you are paying for as Thule is considered a premium brand. The channel on top of the bar is easier to use and it's going to be a little bit quieter as well. For a great value paddleboard carrier we have the Thule SUP Shuttle # TH811XT as well.

John, you should check if Malone has paddle board brackets for their rack too. Nothing against Thule but they are pricey.
