Is There Rear Suspension Enhancement that Fits 2021 Chevy Tahoe

Updated 12/15/2025 | Published 12/11/2025

Question:

I need help! I’m looking for a rear suspension kit for my 2021 Tahoe for towing. Every time I hook up my boat, the rear of the Tahoe sags almost to the ground and puts way too much tongue weight on the truck. I want rear air bags that will lift the Tahoe high enough to transfer the proper amount of weight back onto the trailer like it should be. Another AI recommended the Firestone Ride-Rite 2613 kit + Air Lift WirelessONE compressor and said it’s the best setup for the 2021+ Tahoe. Is that really the right choice? I see all kinds of Tahoes, Yukons, and Escalades down here with the same problem. Not sure what GM was thinking when they engineered the absolute worst rear suspension I’ve seen in the last 20 years.

Hey Gustavo, we can definitely help but real quick I wanted to let you know that I am not an AI and am an actual person here to help. And on that note the AI that told you the 2613 fits your Tahoe is incorrect. That kit is for full size trucks. Oddly enough there aren't any air bag kits we offer for your 21 Tahoe because the vehicle went to independent suspension in the rear that year. Part of this was to increase comfort as I have an older Tahoe and it rides pretty rough haha. The bad news is that it sags when towing.

So what your best solution would be is a weight distribution system to move some of that tongue weight back to the front axle using spring bar tension between the front of the trailer and the rear of the Tahoe. What is the tongue weight of your boat trailer? I attached a FAQ page on weight distribution systems for you to check out as well.

Thanks for the fast response! The boat weighs about 3500 pounds plus another 1500 with trailer.

@GustavoD So a weight distribution system like the Equal-I-zer part # EQ37060ET with a pole tongue adapter like the part # EQ95-01-5950 would be your best option. The pole tongue adapter allows a WD system to install on a trailer that is not an A-frame like what you have since its a boat trailer. This will take some of your trailer tongue weight and move it up to the front axle of your Tahoe basically which will make a huge improvement in the sag you are experiencing. Worth mentioning that even if there was suspension enhancement available for your Tahoe this would still have been the better option as it is a more complete solution.
