Question:
Does this weld on the inside or outside of my trailer tongue as my tongue measures 3.5inch wide by 4inch tall. I have read in the QandA section for this and want to make sure it will work. See Below expert reply by: Robin H For a brake actuator that will fit your 3-1/2inch tongue you will need a weld-on model. None of the bolt-on will fit a 3-1/2inch tongue as you said. I recommend the Dexter DX7.5L A-60XL DX43FR if you have disc brakes or the Dexter DX7.5L A-60 DX53FR for drum brakes. These are technically listed for a 3inch wide tongue as well but that wont matter with welding. Make sure to take them to a certified welder for installation. You will also need to add the T4748800 if youre getting the drum brake version since it does not come with an electric lockout Thanks Rick

Hey Rick! I would expect to weld the Dexter DX7.5L A-60L # DX53FR (drum) or # DX43FR (disc) to the top of the trailer tongue. You might need some extra material to get it to attach properly. If it will fit inside of the tongue as is, or if you want to modify the tongue to weld it inside, that is also fine. If you're willing to weld or take it to a welder there is always a way to make it work.

Hey Rick, how did the weld-on brake actuator work out on your trailer tongue? Did the fit on top or inside the tongue end up being the better option? Your update could make it easier for others working with the same tongue size.
