This surge actuator lets your trailer's disc brakes work without a brake controller, so any truck can tow safely. That flexibility is why they're ideal for rental and fleet trailers. Plus, the black powder coat resists scuffs from daily use.
This Demco DA75 actuator is built with a diaphragm cap, raised fill plate, and booted push rod to block moisture and contaminants from entering the master cylinder. The black powder coat finish resists corrosion, so it's ready for long-term use on disc brake trailers.
The EZ Latch coupler drops onto a 2" hitch ball and clicks shut on its own, even if the latch is already closed. You don't need to hold the handle while you work the jack or line up the ball. That keeps fingers out of the pinch zone and makes it faster to hook up by yourself. After it clicks, give it a firm tug to confirm the catch, then add a coupler lock (sold separately) to help deter theft while you're away.
The color coded decal on the emergency lever shows red when the breakaway is engaged and green when it's released, so you can spot a tripped system before you tow. Bear in mind, this isn't a parking brake. If you're on a slope, use wheel chocks and your truck's parking brake to keep your trailer from rolling.
Inside the actuator, a spring-loaded push rod controls line pressure while an integrated dampener reduces impact shock. That gives you more predictable braking even when your load shifts or weight fluctuates.

Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a real quick look at this Demco DA75 trailer brake actuator. This actuator is designed to activate your trailer's disc brakes when your tow vehicle slows or stops. So not gonna have to worry about a brake controller with this actuator. Now this is going to fit trailers with hydraulic disc brakes, as I mentioned, and this is going to work on your straight three inch wide trailer tongue. The ball size that this is going to connect to is two inches, and this has a gross towing weight of 7,500 pounds and a minimum tongue weight of 750 pounds.
Now this has a composite master cylinder that is durable and efficient. The glass reinforced nylon construction is going to help resist rust and corrosion, and the large reservoir, let me see if I can give you a brief overhead view here real quick, that large reservoir is going to provide increased capacity for brake fluid. And then if you notice here on this cap, this does have a automotive style diaphragm cap. It's going to create a completely enclosed system so you're not gonna have to worry about your brake fluid becoming contaminated. And then this also features Demco's easy latch coupler mechanism, as you can see right here on the front.
This is going to give you a simple secure hookup and disconnect letting you hook up to your two inch ball when the latch is in the closed position. As you can see, that latch is closed, and I do have my two inch ball here, so that's how easy this is going to be to connect. We've got a secure connection, so you're just gonna drop the coupler over the hitch ball and that latch is going to automatically snap into place. You lift that up to uncouple and it's just that simple. So you can also get a lock for this if you so desire, it will accommodate a lock.
This does not include a lock. And the breakaway is also included as you can see right here. So this is going to include the cable and then the snap hook, and this is going to help prevent trailer runaway situations. And I believe most, if not all states, by law do require this on your setup. This is constructed of black zinc finished heavy duty steel, and it has a sturdy, reinforced outer casing.
This will simply bolt onto your trailer tongue. This does not include hardware, so that's something you would have to pick up separately. The overall length, in case you we inchesre wondering from end to end is about 19 and a half inches long. And if you happen to have any other additional questions that I did not cover with you during our time together today, don't hesitate to reach back out to us. We do wanna be sure that you're getting exactly what you want and need. Well, I think that's gonna wrap up our quick look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.
Brake actuator works well and east to install and set up.
I received the actuator but can not find installation instructions in the box or on line. I think I am smart enough to get the old actuator off and the new one installed but it would be nice to have an instruction manual. It seems strange that you would send instructions to install the manual lock out kit but not the actuator itself.
