Question:

You have some nice stuff but there is an item I do not see. I need to transport a closed wheelchair that is just to hard for the women in our lives my son and I to put in the trunk. I am looking at your hitch for my wifes 2011 Chrysler 300 limited. But I do not want or need the full ramp. Just something we can hang it off of for the next 6 months whle he recovers, any suggestions?

If you do not have a hitch on your 2011 Chrysler 300, I recommend a hitch and a cargo carrier. After doing some research on your vehicle I found that the towing weight capacity is 1,000 lbs. that means the maximum tongue weight capacity or total weight a hitch could handle is approximately 100 lbs.

I recommend the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, part # 36548. This is a Class ll hitch and has a 1-1/4 inch receiver opening.

I also recommend a flat hitch-mounted cargo carrier like the Rola Packer Cargo Carrier, part # 59530. this carrier measures 20 X 60 inches and weighs about 30 lbs, so if the wheelchair weighs 61 lbs or less, you are good to go. Plus the carrier can be used for carrying other cargo when the wheelchair is no longer needed. I have attached a link to a product review video for this carrier you can check out.

To secure the carrier to the hitch and deter thieves I recommend the Master Lock Swivel Head Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock , part # 2866DAT. This comes with the lock and pins that will fit either 1-1/4 inch or 2 inch receivers.

To secure the wheelchair or any other cargo you wish to carry, you can check out the Erickson Ratcheting Tie-Down Straps, part # EM31352. I have attached a product review video.

If you carry any cargo that would block the taillights you will want to install lights on the carrier like the etrailer License Plate and LED Taillight Mounting Kit for Hitch Mounted Cargo CarrierItem # e98943-44LED

If you have no 4-way connector on your vehicle I recommend the Curt Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring, part # C56145. This installs quickly and easily by plugging into the existing wiring of your 300 and requires no splicing or cutting of wires.

When working with electrical connectors I recommend dielectric grease like part # 11755. This keeps dirt and moisture out of the electrical connections and helps prevent corrosion.
