Recommended Flat Towing Parts for a 2023 Jeep Wrangler 4xe

Hi, I just bought a 2023 Wrangler Rubicon 4xE and need help finding best flat tow and base plate to purchase, thank you

Hey Bobby, congrats on the new Jeep! To flat tow a 2023 Wrangler Rubicon 4xe you will need the following parts:

Tow Bar and Safety Chains - etrailer SD Non-Binding Tow Bar for Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plates item # e74ZR

Base Plate Kit - Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms item # RM-521453-5

Wiring Harness - Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit item # RM-15267. This diode kit allows you to use your Jeep's tail lights and wiring system while preventing feedback from your RV. This kit will come with a 6-way socket for your Jeep as well as an adapter cable to go from the vehicle to the motorhome.

Please note that if your Jeep has ParkSense Proximity Sensors then you will need the Roadmaster Wiring Kit with Smart Diodes for Variable Voltage LED Tail Lights # RM63MR instead.

Supplemental Braking System - Curt RVi Series Shadow 2 Flat Tow Brake System item # RVI94FR for a permanent install or the Curt RVi Series 4 Portable Flat Tow Brake System item # RVI44FR for a portable system.

Please note you will also need the Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit item # RM23MR if you go with the permanently installed item # RVI94FR. This makes sure your braking system isn't applying when it's not supposed to.

If you chose to install a portable braking system like item # RVI44FR you will also need the 12 Volt Outlet Kit, 20 amps item # RM-9332. This provides a power outlet connected directly to the battery.

High Low Adapter - The tow bar needs to be within 3" of level. If you measure the height of the inside top of the hitch receiver tube on your RV, and the height difference is more than 3 inches above/below the base plate tab height, you'll need a high/low adapter. I have linked a FAQ article that explains all this in more detail along with our selection of adapters.

I've linked a couple of installation videos we have showing how to get the baseplate and wiring harnesses installed on a 2023 Wrangler 4xe.

Hey Bobby, how did your flat tow setup for the Wrangler 4xe turn out with the Roadmaster base plate and wiring kit? Your update could make it easier for the next person setting up a similar Jeep.

@JerredH The RVi4 brake i purchase doesn't turn ON, i can't find any power button or switch, my 12V power works so not sure what to do with it. What's the process of return, service or replacement? Thanks

@BobbyC Did you install the 12 Volt Outlet Kit, 20 amps item # RM-9332 and did you push the Auto Position button after you plugged it in and connected the claw to the brake pedal? Warranty issues are handled directly by Curt. I didn't see an order number when I checked your email. Where did you purchase it from? You'll want to reach out to their customer service department for a return.

@JerredH I have the connection behind my Rubicon and I purchased an extender for it so I assume it is 20 amps. I bought the RVI batt charger, tows and the RVi4 brake from etrailer, just an fyi
