Question:
I’m not much of a mechanic, but I’d like to install this myself on my 2025 Crosstrek Limited. Any special tools or tricky steps I should know about?

You’re in good shape, Scott - the TowSmart 2" trailer hitch receiver # TS68ZR for your 2025 Crosstrek bolts right to the frame with included hardware. The only modification needed is enlarging the access holes slightly so you can fishwire the carriage bolts through. A die grinder or drill makes quick work of it, and you’ll torque the bolts to 110 ft-lbs once everything’s in place.
If you can work a ratchet and have a torque wrench handy, you can definitely handle this in your driveway. Just grab a buddy to hold the hitch while you start the first couple of nuts - that makes all the difference. I've seen my coworker Joe install them on his own, but it's definitely easier with a second set of hands.
What do you plan to use the hitch for? Bike rack or a trailer?

Hey Andrew, thanks for the breakdown! I’ve got basic tools and a torque wrench but no lift, just ramps. Do I need to drop the exhaust all the way, or can I work around it?
