Updated 12/09/2025 | Published 11/17/2025

Question:

Morning, I am looking to upgrade my fifth wheel hitch to a gooseneck hitch Gen Y shock absorbing. I have a 2025 XLR boost toy hauler. Hitch on it is saying 21K / 5250 Max pin weight it is stock fifth wheel hitch.

Hey Greg, so I was able to narrow down that your 2025 XLR Boost has either a Lippert 1621 or a Lippert Rhino pin box which means the easiest solution would be the Reese Goose Box part # RP85FR which fits both styles and is arguably better because it doesn't void the hitch frame warranty like the Gen-Y technically does.

If you are dead set on the Gen-Y though you would need the part # GY33GR if you have the Rhino or the part # GY38FR if you have the 1621. To determine which you have I would need to get more info off the sticker that is on the current pin box.

Or you can measure the distance between the front and back mounting holes. If the distance is 7-1/2 inches you have a Rhino, if it's 7-7/8 inch its a 1621.

Hey Greg, what did you end up deciding for your XLR Boost—did you go with the Reese Goose Box or one of the Gen-Y options? Your feedback could really help others comparing those setups for similar toy haulers.
