Recommended Ducted Replacement AC Units for a 2003 Fleetwood Expedition RV

Updated 12/08/2025 | Published 11/16/2025

Question:

We own a 2003 Fleetwood Expedition RV with two DUCTED overhead air conditioners that need to be replaced. The units are currently controlled by a Intellitec system that is being modernized to a digital ECC system by Waiter. We want to replace both of our overhead systems with the DUCTED Furrion Chill Cube 18k, and we need to know what additional parts are required to install the Chill Cube in our system? Does the Chill Cube work with the current thermostat controller system that restricts compressor starts or will the Chill Cube need to bypass the current intellitec system to work properly?

Hey Don. According to Furrion their Chill Cubes like item # FR99TD are designed to work exclusively with Furrion-specific control components. The control board is not designed to be compatible with other manufacturer's climate control systems. Additionally, the AC units will not work with other manufacturer's air distribution boxes. You'll need to use one specifically designed for the Chill Cubes like item # LC64DX.

We have two options for Ducted 18k Furrion Chill Cube systems that include a thermostat to control their functions. I have listed them below:

Furrion Chill Cube RV AC w Air Distribution Box, Thermostat - Ducted - 18,000 Btu - White item # FR69TD

Furrion Chill Cube RV AC w Air Distribution Box, Thermostat - Ducted - 18,000 Btu - Black item # FR49TD

Hey Don, how did the swap to the Furrion Chill Cube systems go on your Fleetwood Expedition? Were the Furrion control components and air distribution boxes a good fit with your updated ECC setup? Your experience could help others upgrading older RV cooling systems.
