Question:

Good Morning! I have a Intech Flyer Forge 2024 and pull it with a 2019 Cadillac Escalade ESV. We have been having so much sway issues. trailer is level and loaded correctly. I would like your advice on an appropriate anti sway hitch set up. I am not familiar enough with aluminum framed trailers. Would you be able to help? Thank you Jack

Hey Jack! An aluminum frame can be tricky when it comes to a weight distribution hitch (WDH) with sway control. The first thing you need to do is reach out to inTech and see if a WDH can be used on their trailers. Some manufacturers allow it, some do not, it really depends on the overall design of the trailer.

Assuming it can, I recommend adding the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control # EQ37100ET. This is designed for trailers with 600 lbs - 1,000 lbs of tongue weight which falls in line with the specs on your trailer. This system is widely considered the best and will significantly reduce the trailer sway you have been experiencing.

If you find that you cannot use a WDH with that trailer the only option would be to add an electronic sway control system like the Curt True Course Advanced Bluetooth Trailer Sway Control # C94VV. This detects trailer movement and activates the brakes to keep it under control.

Any big trips coming up with your Flyer?

Thanks very much! I thought about calling Intech.... That is almost impossible for a retail customer I have come to find out. I will review the hitch set up you sent this evening. I was considering Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller - Part Number: RED26CR. I watched a video etrailer has on it and it looked good. Does this work the same way at the Curt item you recommended? Yes, our next trip is in Jan 2026 to the Rolex 24 in Daytona. We finally got a stop after a few years of attempts. Thanks again for you help Jack

@JackS it can be difficult sometimes to get in touch the manufacturer. The dealer you bought it from might know as well and I'm sure you could get ahold of them. The Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty # RED26CR is a great brake controller but it is really only designed to control the brakes on your trailer when you're stopping. It is possible to use the manual override to help with sway but you don't want to be driving down the highway constantly trying to mess with that. Redarc is coming out with the Tow-Pro Link # RED57AR which actually has a built-in system called SwayStop which would be a better choice. You still have to push a button when experiencing sway but you press it once and it takes care of the rest. A dedicated system like the Curt would be better, and certainly the WDH would be best, but this is a solid option. One way or another you will need a brake controller if you don't already have one. I can't say for sure when the Link will be available so I would get the Liberty if you need one. That sounds like an exciting trip! At least you have a little time here to try and sort things out before you're headed there.
