Question:
I am looking for an Atwood rv hot water heater model GC6AA-10E. Is there an easy replacement unit for this heater? I am hoping to replace mine by myself. I cant seem to find an Atwood anywhere. Thank you for your time.

Hey Gary. Atwood was bought out around 10 years ago by Dometic and then discontinued. While there's not an identical replacement for your Atwood GC6AA-10E water heater we do have a comparable option size wise. It is the Dometic RV Water Heater item # DMC74FR.
The Dometic item # DMC74FR has a 6 gallon tank, produces up to 12 gallons per hour, and fits cutouts measuring 12-3/4" tall x 12-3/4" wide x 19-7/8" deep. The 15" x 15". You will also need the Replacement Door for Dometic Water Heater item # DMC58FR.
If you would like to upgrade to a tankless water heater, I highly recommend the Furrion RV Tankless Water Heater item # FR92TD with a 16" x 18" Door or item # FR42TD with a 18" x 18" Door. This unit is capable of producing 144 gallons of hot water making it virtually endless. The Furrion fits a cutout measuring 12-3/4" to 12-13/16" wide x 12-5/8" to 12-3/4" tall x 23-1/2" deep so you will need to make sure you have enough space if you want to go this route.
If you enjoy taking long hot showers or have multiple people with you, I recommend going with one of the Furrion tankless options item # FR92TD or item # FR42TD.
What kind of motorhome or trailer do you have?

Thank you Jerrod. I found you have the answer for my dilemma. After 35 years we need to replace our Atwood G6A-7 . I really like the tankless idea. Is the installation as easy as replacing the old style? This will be a family project. Dad installed the old unit when he built the cabin. It has worked like a charm all these years.

I have a 2022 Jayco Eagle. 26 ft. I will have to measure my opening. I am not interested in the tankless heater. I will get back with you. Thanks
