Aluminum Tire/Wheel Combo To Replace 4.80-12 Tires On A Load Rite PWC Trailer

Updated 10/24/2025 | Published 10/23/2025

Question:

I recently bought a new load rite pwc trailer that comes with a 480-12 tire on a galvanized 5 lug wheel. What wheel and tire combo would fit? I’d like to get a nice aluminum wheel/tire combo to replace them. Thank you

Hi Hector!

A 4.80-12 tire/wheel combo will typically have a 20.7" diameter and a 4.9" width. I mention this as you want to have around 3" of clearance from the top of the tire to the bottom of the fender and roughly 1.5" of clearance from the sidewall of the tire to the sidewall of the fender/frame.

The Kenda Karrier S-Trail Radial Trailer Tire with 12" Aluminum AM02 Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - Load Range E # KE46EV or Kenda Karrier S-Trail Radial Trailer Tire with 12" Aluminum AM01 Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - Load Range E # KE29EV will have a diameter of 21.4" and a width of 5.8". If you have the room, you are good to go.

What kind of watercraft are you carrying?

Thank you for the quick reply! I purchased a Seadoo on a single place trailer. Both are in storage til spring so I won’t be able to measure any time soon.

@HectorO You're very welcome! Just let me know if there isn't enough room when you have a chance to measure. If you need anything else in the mean time, just let me know! : )
