What Limits Speed on Small Trailer

Updated 10/30/2025 | Published 02/09/2025

Question:

Im looking for a light duty trailer that can be folded up for space reasons. Something like the HAUL-MASTER 1195 lb. Capacity, 4 ft. x 8 ft. Folding Trailer or IRONTON 37561. My concern is that with either of those they have a 45 mph rating. The usage will be for my little Colorado XT pontoon wading boat, a grill, tent and a cooler. Its there a better trailer to match my usage, or a way to cover ones like that to go up to 75 mph? Typical speed in my area.

The speed rating of those trailers just comes down to the tires that are being used. All you'd need to do is swap the tires to something with a higher speed rating. If you get me the tire size I can help find best option.

Hey, were you able to find new tires with a higher speed rating for your folding trailer? Once you have the tire size, I can help narrow down the best match. Your update could make it easier for others hauling small boats or camping gear at highway speeds.
