Will Draw-Tite Hitch Reduce Clearance on Volkswagen ID-Buzz

Does this hitch reduce the ground clearance of the Buzz? In the installation pictures Ive seen it seems like it might hang below the belly pan.

Hi Eryk; we haven't had a VW ID-Buzz come in yet to install the # DT33KV so I can't say for sure. Those measurements for clearance are almost never available from the manufacturer so we have to get them ourselves.

From some other videos and pictures I was able to find it does look like there will be a reduction in the ground clearance, but it is pretty minor. I would say try asking Draw-Tite but they almost never respond ever since First Brands bought them. Now that First Brands is bankrupt I don't see it getting any better.

Hey Eryk, were you able to find out how much the Draw-Tite hitch actually reduced the ground clearance on your ID. Buzz? Knowing what you measured could help others trying to gauge the same fit.

Just had one of these installed on my ID.Buzz. I'm measuring 9.5" from my garage floor to the bottom of the safety chain loop on the hitch; I'd include a photo if I could find a way to do that. Looks like this reduces ground clearance at the point where the hitch sits by about 2".
